On February 7, 2003 I read that Martina Hingis announced her retirement...! I was shocked! Anna stopped playing on the WTA Tour shortly afterwards in April 2003 :-(((((! I was deeply frustrated!
I've admired this Doubles Dreamteam since the Aussie Open 1999 - Anna won her first Grand Slam Doubles Trophy :-)))
Long long after the US Open 2002 (the final tournament from the "Spice Girls") both played at the WTT Smash Hits 2005 and once a Singles match at an exhibition in Rio de Janeiro (Dec 10, 2005)!
BUT: When the "Spice Girls reunion at Wimbledon"-news came out in May 2010, I could barely believe it. But it happened: Anna and Martina played at the Ladies Invitational Doubles event in the legendary and historical All England Club. Although no match was broadcasted on free TV in germany, this was UNIQUE and, like Anna said: "it almost felt like I was in a time machine"...
My personal Highlight beside both Doubles Grand Slam Titles Down Under (1999 & 2002) and the Wimbledon-reunion in 2010: Seeing both LIVE in Filderstadt 2001!

| The absolutely unexpected (and probably last) reunion of Anna and Martina at the 2010 Wimbledon tournament (Ladies Invitational Doubles event) was amazing - and of course, this was reason enough to make another tribute-video! Both know each other from the early 90's and had competitive matches in Singles (Anna faced Martina in 2 out of her 4 WTA Singles Finals) before they teamed up in Doubles and became the "Spice Girls of the WTA Tour" in 1999. 2 Grand Slam Trophies plus 2 Tour Championships and an overall record of 69-5 (wins/defeats - Wimbledon 2010 included). | Australian Open 1999 (January 31) - Anna and Martina played together for the first time - both won the Grand Slam Trophy :-))) This was Anna's first ever Grand Slam Title! 3 years later (January 25, 2002) they did it again Down Under - it was the "Spice Girls"'s last Grand Slam Trophy :-((
