About her service:
"I was trying to get in as many first serves as possible. I was going for placement rather than speed."
Her travel woes from Miami to Sacramento (she arrived 3 1/2 hours before the event started at 7:30 pm):
"I woke up at 6 a.m., and the airline called to say the flight was
canceled. I had to take a later flight and change planes in Dallas. My bags
haven't gotten here yet."
Wimbledon semifinalist 10 years ago...:
"I can't believe it's been 10 years. It's surreal. I remember every second,
every minute, what I was wearing, what I ate ... It was an amazing experience.
At the same time, I can look at it from the outside. I think, 'Wow, that
really happened to me?'"
Comeback to the Pro Tour?:
"But I would have to take six months and train six hours a day, and I know
my body wouldn't stand it physically. It would be fun, but I have to be
realistic."
No regrets. . .:
"I look at myself as a player from God knows where. I had nothing. I'm proud
of what I've achieved on and off the court -- getting out of the Soviet Union
and making a better life for myself."
"If I've brought new fans to tennis, I'm proud of that, too. I'm very happy,
and it's all thanks to tennis."
