Anna Kournikova beaten by Katarina Srebotnik
2:6, 6:7

March 1, 2002

No Singles Title in 7 years:
"It is frustrating and it bothers me although I have to try to forget the statistics. I simply shouldn't think about the fact that I didn't won a tournament yet" (translated from german Sport1.de-Article (sth to doubt because I heard she said the opposite))

"I ran to the left but my mind was going to the right," said Kournikova after her third semifinal defeat of the year. "It's strange. Everything which could have gone wrong went wrong."

"I had a sharp shooting pain and I couldn't move," she said after the match. "I thought about it and it felt worse. It was a pretty stupid little thing, and it cost me the match, probably."

"I'm disappointed, obviously, and frustrated I couldn't give it my 100 percent," Kournikova said.

She said she tries not to let that bother her, choosing instead to "wake up tomorrow and go practice."
