Q : How do you feel after passing the first round?
A : I feel good. I won the first match since Lipton and the Fed Cup.
Q : What's the matter with your leg?
A : Nothing serious, I just pulled my muscle.
Q : In 1989 you played the Lemon Bowl here in Rome.
A : It was in 1990 and I was 9 years old.
Q : Did you come back ever since?
A : Yes, on holiday.
Q : In the first set, 5-2, you seemed to start slipping.
A : Yes, because I wanted to finish too quickly, then I slowed down.
Q : Which are your goals for this season and for the tournament?
A : I have no goals. I want to take everything step by step. I want to get
experience learning by winning and losing.
Q : You are the youngest player in Rome. Is this stressing for you?
A : No, I feel quite comfortable. My age does not make any difference.
Q : This morning Monica Seles said that 16-year-old players just want to have
fun. What about 15-year-old-ones?
A : Yes, I do have fun. I enjoy playing tennis very much. I played Lipton,
Indian Wells and now I'm here. It's good practice for me, it's fun and I
have the opportunity to visit new places.
Q : You said you set no goals for the season but how far do you want to go in
this tournament?
A : I want to take it step by step. I'm playing Coetzer for the fourth time in
nine months. I beat her at Lipton. I hope it is going to be a good match.
Q : How much time do you devote to tennis every day?
A : Three hours.
Q : What do you do during the rest of the day?
A : I do some physical activity for one hour and then do several other things I
like.
Q : We read on newspapers that Martina Hingis is really easy going even in the
locker rooms whereas you are said to be more reserved and difficult to make
friend with. Is that true?
A : I've never heard it. If you ask any of the girls they will tell you that
we are all good friends.
Q : Who is your best friend?
A : I cannot tell. I have so many friends.
Q : Do you know your schedule after Rome?
A : Yes, I'll be in Berlin, Paris and Wimbledon.
