Anna is injured again
Anna was forced to retire from her semifinal match at doubles exhibition tournament at Mexico City with partner Natasha Zvereva - leading in third set 6:7 7:6 4:1 against Anke Huber/ Babsi Schett - after suffering a torn muscular fibre in her right hand. She skipped Scottsdale and hopes to be fit again for Indian Wells. But that's what she told the media after last years stress fracture - suffered
at the "Du Maurier Open" - too. Finally she was sidelined for three months. It's the third straight year with a serious injury after 1998 and 1999. It's the second time in her career
that she will drop out of the Top-10 after a career high ranking (after 1998 Eastbourne No.10) due to an injury. That's a serious blow for her, for sure. Doubtly she will earn enough points at the remaining tournaments to be back in the Top-10 at the beginning of the French Open, because she has to defend about 470 points at Amelia Island and Hilton Head - more then every other player on tour except the Top-4.
