completely :-)))! Program title: "Smash Hits: Smash

Anna was primarily featured on the first two hours
of the program, playing Celebrity Doubles and Mixed
Doubles with Andre Agassi and Darren Cahill, Agassis
current coach. Also featured: brief highlights of
the "An Enduring Vision" gala dinner the previous
night (October 10). Anna's only interview was after
the mixed doubles match!
Reporter: "Will we see you and Andre Agassi play
mixed doubles in the Australian Open?"
Anna: "Oh, I love to play doubles with Andre,
but I'm so far behind and I need more time to
practice." (unfortunately that's the truth....)

Guess what? Anna wrote a new Journal entry!!!! Nearly 1 year after her last one. . . . ! Did she wrote anything about her future plans?? Comeback?? Back Injury??? NO... But hey, did you really expect that?!?!?
She wrote about the WTT Smash Hits event and that she's "really looking forward to the next Smash Hits events with Elton and Billie Jean". Well, at least she wrote that "It was so great to be back on the court again, to hear the cheers of the crowd" but even the last part of this sentence, "most importantly to make a difference in the fight against AIDS", indicates that "just" playing Tennis doesn't seem to be her No.1 priority anymore :-((((( "Charity-Anna" to come?!?!?!?! It seems so!

"I don't think [playing on the Tour] is in the near future" - OFFICIAL RETIREMENT FOLLOWS FOR SURE / new Poll / AKFS Consequences
Seems like nearly 1 year after the first serious retirement-"rumors" occured (World Music Awards 2003) we finally have to face it: ANNA WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THE WTA TOUR AGAIN!!!!
Why??? Well, that's what she said at the WTT
Smash Hits event in Irvine on October 11th (article)
- strange that i took 2 weeks before these quotes
were published:
"Well, this
year I haven't obviously been able to play,. I'm
taking a lot of time in developing and strategizing
and figuring out what it is that I want to do - if I
can play or if I can't play. I didn't make many
appearances or do a lot of public things over the
summer. I've just been trying to work with my team
and put everything together."
>> In my opinion, she is fit again - she just
doesn't want to attempt to return to the WTA
Tour!!!!! That's horrible and hard to understand
having her "I love tennis"-comments in your mind
from all over the years. Where has the
Surgery-option gone? Back Injury finally gone?!?!?!
Well, like I said - I think she simply lost her love/desire
for Tennis!

done a lot of research, having a plan and

PS: Just like "Oct_1" I also think that IF she had never met Enrique (the ESPN-article states that both are already married...which wouldn't surprise me anymore), EVERYTHING would have turned out more positive and she'd still be playing tennis...! Basically Anna said that she'll announce her
official retirement in the near future - so what
will be the future of the AKFS which always was
dedicated to the TENNIS PLAYER Anna K????
Honestly, I don't know yet. On the one hand, I am
still loving the website-work but on the other hand,
I am still getting frustrated whenever I watch a WTA
match on TV without Anna...!
I am going to think about if I will continue with the Anna Kournikova Forever Site if Anna really retires!
Well, perhaps I have to face it that everything comes to an end one day. . . .

Anna and Enrique at concert
What is Anna currently doing? Well, both attended a concert of the Black Eyed Peas in Miami on October 21st! The concert took place at the Joia club! See a few pictures:

PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, currently I see so much tennis (Moscow, Zurich, Linz) because Eurosport shows so much these days! I see all these fabulous players (Dementieva, Sharapova, Ivanovic etc) and feel sad because I see Martina Hingis in the stands who retired in the beginning of 2003. Plus: Anna of course - just non-tennis events beside some charity Tennis events which aren't at a competitive level.
Well, I think if Anna doesn't inform her fans soon (within the next few months) she might even lose me as a fan of hers...!
DO I REALLY DEMAND TOO MUCH ANNA??? JUST SAY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO IN THE FUTURE?? WTA COMEBACK, CONTINUE THE WAY IT IS RIGHT NOW OR NO MORE TENNIS?

Lexington news
As already mentioned, Anna will participate in the 2nd Lexus Tennis Challenge at Lexington's Rupp Arena. The tennis event is set for Sunday, November 21st, at 2 pm EST and will benefit the Tubby Smith Foundation and the OWL Foundation.
Anna will play a Singles match vs Venus Williams (currently ranked 11th in the world!!!) and a Doubles match is also on the schedule.
Prior to this on Saturday, November 20th: A youth tennis clinic at the Lexington Tennis Club and the Night Owl Party at the Hyatt Regency Lexington Party which will feature a reception, dinner, auction and a special performance by an R&B star. Read more

As of October 14th, the design of the main page has been renewed! Why have I removed the "Latest Results", WTA-Section??? Well, is Anna really playing Tennis since 1 1/2 years??? Unfortunately not!!! These sections will reappear IF she returns - hopefully! Suggestions for improvements?

Anna already attended a gala charity event at Newport Beach, California on sunday night (October 10th) for the 3rd annual "An Enduring Vision" charity. This event was a prelude for tonights WTT Smash Hits event. Anna socialized with other celebrities like Josh Groban, January Jones, Bill Rancic, and Andy Roddick. Anna's appearance at this US TV show took about 5 minutes (better than nothing). According to fans who were lucky enough to see it, Anna enjoyed herself and it was fun to watch. What was going on?
Playing tennis with Anna and John McEnroewas the reward for the winning team. Raj, one of the candidates, asked Anna out for coffee and she said that if he could return one out of five of her serves she would. He didn't come close so he had to run around the Arthur Ashe Stadium in his boxers. Anna and the others hit balls at him and Anna was laughing a lot. View pictures & watch Video | Discuss it:

formed a new company, called akseven, which will
oversee all of Kournikova's marketing and
philanthropic endeavors. In addition, Anna has
signed with Lisa Jacobson of United Talent Agency
(UTA). UTA will represent Anna for all marketing,
entertainment and endorsement related ventures.
Anna will be represented by Octagon in the future
for all on-court tennis activities.

Elena takes swipe at Anna / Videostore gets DL media
Seems like Elena Dementieva is at least a bit jealous of Anna! This is what she said to ACE Magazine (October 2004 issue): "Nobody could play against Kournikova because they were thinking about how famous she was, how popular she was, and how all the fans loved her. I think she won so many matches without a fight - especially at the beginning - because of all the media attention."
PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, seems like Elena didn't quite forget that she lost her one and only match vs Anna ;-))) - back on January 31st, 2002 at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo (JPN) - Anna won 7:6, 7:6! Looking back I have to say I kind of understand her a little bit: Compared to Anna, Elena basically wasn't in the focus of the media at all - even at her breakthrough at the US Open 2000.
