Sleepdeprived's Miami pics / Charlotte news / Miami info / Anna and Enrique - new pics
I still don't know any exhibition results from the Mercedes Benz Classic in Miami from May 21st but "Sleepdeprived" (member of Official Messageboard) once again was so kind to make MANY HQ pictures from Anna :-)))) Thanx very very much! See the pictures at the Official Messageboard's Members Photos
>> "Eye of Sleepdeprived"-Thread (starting at Post #244)

Charlotte news: As previously reported, Anna will play at an exhibition at Charlotte at noon on May 28, 2005. A tennis court including grandstands has been installed across from Lowe's Motor Speedway. Anna will be playing against NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Elliot Sadler.
PLUS: After this exhibition match, Anna, NICK BOLLETTIERI (her first US coach, do you remember?) and Ronnie Robinson will lead a tennis clinic, exhibition and fan participation. Read more

Miami event?
Well, the Mercedes Benz Classic has already taken place more than 1 day ago but for some reasons I cannot access the official Messageboard which is my No.1 news source as well! Am I the only one with this problem or do you have the same problem?!?!?! All I could find so fare are some pictures at Getty Images (search for "kournikova", select "All Images" and "Any Date") - lovely Anna played in 2 different shirts, very sweet.

Be Anna's towel boy/girl / Miami-infos & AKFS honored / Charlotte-exhibition / Anna + Enrique news
The Sacramento Capitals (the team Anna joins in the 2005 WTT season) offer a contest to be Anna's towel boy/girl on their match vs the Houston Wranglers at Allstatet Tennis Stadium on July 12th. What will the winner receive? He/she will get a photo together with Anna and a signed towel. ALL ages can take part in the contest.  Just write a 200-word email essay - follow this link
Thanx to "LlewellynOfGoleta"

PERSONAL COMMENT: I would really love to get the opportunity to see Anna LIVE once again - but it makes no sense for me to write an email to the address given because there's no way for me to fly to Miami at that time :-(((
Even more frustrating fact: Tomorrow it's exactly 3 (!!!) years ago since I've seen Anna live...at the Strasbourg-WTA-tournament

Miami-infos & AKFS honored: Check out this pdf-file below to get
a) Infos about the players who participate in the tennis event in Miami on May 21, 2005 and
b) see that the AKFS (Anna Kournikova Forever Site) has been picked as the best Anna-Website in the World :-)))))

Charlotte-exhibition: Anna's next exhibition will take place in Charlotte at noon on May 28, 2005. Anna will be playing before the Coca-Cola 600 (NASCAR) and the tennis court has been built at the corner of the speedway!!! Anna's opponents are NASCAR drivers Elliott Sadler and Jamie McMurray. This exhibition is part of 4 days of celebrity sports activities at the site. Read more
Thanx to "halfwaye"

PERSONAL COMMENT: Sounds kind of strange to me...somehow! Tennis at a Nascar-event? Well, I think this wouldn't work here in Germany.

Anna + Enrique news: As you can see on Wireimage, Anna and Enrique ate at Sugo at The Sanctuary Hotel in Miami Beach on May 15, 2005. Both posed for a few pictures, on some of them you see Anna and Enrique posing together with restaurant owner Keith Menin.

PLUS: Both were spotted downing dogs at Dogma Grill on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami on Saturday, May 14, 2005.

ANNA TALKS ABOUT AFTER-PRO-LIFE
It's May 14th, 2005 - today I finally read the clearest sentences Anna ever stated about her RETIREMENT as a Pro Tennis player. In her article she wrote for ELLE magazine (June 2005 US-issue) you can read this:

"though my work and life are still very much in the spotlight, I'm suddenly facing the real issues of a nonprofessional athlete"...

..."Finally I can risk some new activities (such as rock climbing or Yogalates) without fearing that I'll get hurt and be sidelined"...

..."My shoulders and arms began getting bulky, and I looked like a football player. With my body type I tend to build muscle rapidly, and my goal was to look feminine and slender"...

..."Usually I'm on the court four days a week to maintain my form for charity and exhibition tournaments"...

..."On one hand, when you stop what you've been doing every day for the past 16 years, of course you're going to be terrified. I worried about everything: What will I do all day? How will I motivate and challenge myself? Am I going to get fat? Will I still exercise?"...

..."I could go Rollerblading for the first time and not worry that if I fell and hurt myself, oops, there go my chances at the U.S. Open."
Thanx to "Akish", "gambino10304"

PERSONAL COMMENT: Now all remaining comeback-hope is gone! Anna leads a new life - a life without pro Tennis and this won't change anymore. I am very frustrated and sad. I know that I will never see Anna fighting on the court again - never ever again. When she was still playing at the WTA Tour I was really hoping that she'll play on the WTA Tour until she's around 30 - but that wish didn't fulfill :-(

What's left to say??? One thing I know for sure: The Anna Kournikova Forever Site (AKFS) is now close to 5 years of age - but there won't be a 10th anniversary.

Anna is new contributor to ELLE mag / AKFS Future watch
Well, that's new for me - Anna will be working on a fitness project together with ELLE magazine. Anna's 2-page introductory article is on page 158-159 in the June 2005 US issue of ELLE.
Anna talks about her back injury, her weight gain (wonder why the word "GAIN" came up!!!) and some other things related to fitness. Anna will be doing several activities for ELLE in the future and will report on them - reportedly also offering advice from her personal experince.
Thanx to "sadiesexy2069"

AKFS Future watch: No, this time I don't want to talk about the end of this website - just a short preview of the update rate in upcoming months:

- July 8th - September 4th, 2005: daily updates, if news available

- rest of 2005: updates from friday to sunday

Do YOU have suggestions for new website categories, functionalities or other things?

"THE VIEW"-Videos
Thanx very very much "Sleepdeprived" - ALL Anna-fans who couldn't watch Anna on "THE VIEW" (like me) can download many many videos right now. Check out the links at the Official Messageboard's Members Photos
>> "ANNA ON THE VIEW: STUNNING!!!!!"-Thread (posts #41, #51)
Thanx very very much "Sleepdeprived"

PERSONAL COMMENT: After having seen almost 10 of the "The View"-Videos I have to admit that I am not as interested in today's Anna as I was in the "old Anna" who was a Pro Tennis player.
The Pro Days are definitely over, she doesn't even talk about this anymore and it's still the key point why my interest in Anna is steadily decreasing.
So, of course I also think about the end of the Anna Kournikova Forever Site again. Perhaps I should choose Anna's 25th birthday.

Anna still practising / BPSM writer about Anna / Wertheim asked / "THE VIEW"-VIDEOS / More Infos about Las Vegas-trip / Fitness & health / Anna at Adidas store-opening
According to this article which was published a few days ago, Anna is (at least) still practising:
Abigail Tordoff (once ranked 240th in the world) travelled and practised with Anna during the last weekend (I don't know WHERE). Tordoff said: “We got on well together and it was fun with Anna. She passed on a few hints."

PERSONAL COMMENT: Does anybody know WHEN and WHERE this took place? It would be nice to hear some words from Anna regarding her tennis future.

BPSM writer about Anna: Kenny Neibart, writer for the Back Page Sports Magazine (BPSM), wrote a quite negative-touched report about Anna and mainly about the fact that she's a) beautiful and b) just managed to climb up to No.8 in the world...
Thanx to "halfwaye"

PERSONAL COMMENT: Millions of female tennis players would be proud to be the 8th best tennis player in the world!!!!

Wertheim asked: Jon Wertheim (Sports Illustrated, tennix expert) has been asked recently if Anna will make a comeback. He said that maybe Anna will give an answer at the opening of a new Adidas store in the SoHo section of New York on May 7th.
Thanx to "halfwaye"

"THE VIEW"-VIDEOS: Thanx very very much "Sleepdeprived" - ALL Anna-fans who couldn't watch Anna on "THE VIEW" (like me) can download many many videos right now. Check out the links at the Official Messageboard's Members Photos

Thanx very very much "Sleepdeprived"

PERSONAL COMMENT: Awesome - first the HQ pictures of the rare occasions when Anna still plays Tennis, now SO MANY videos of Anna on "THE VIEW"...! What would we (the Anna-fans outside the USA) do without "Sleepdeprived"?

More Infos about Las Vegas-trip: Anna was in San Diego the last weekend - but not only to throw the first pitch at a Baseball game - she also was there to participate at the National Boys and Girls Club conference. More Infos: azcentral.com | Watch Video of Anna throwing the first pitch

PS: San Diego's right fielder Brian Giles said that Anna is the athlete he most wanted to meet.
Thanx to "halfwaye", "LlewellynOfGoleta", "xuan1210"

Fitness & health: indiatimes.com published some fitness regimes reportedly followed by Anna. There are no quotes from Anna but I think this is correct.
Thanx to "xuan1210"

Anna at Adidas store-opening: Anna will attend the opening of the Adidas' new megastore in SoHo (New York), located on Broadway and Houston. She will cut what must be the world's largest shoelace, wrapped around the shop. Read more
