surface at Memphis / PLEASE
Well, I think I was wrong with the surface I mentioned for the Memphis tournament because it will be played on hardcourt Indoors! Sorry for the wrong info, I am NO EXPERT and haven't got time 24/7!

PLEASE: Well, I admit that I am temporarily committing faults, mistakes but
a) I am NO Tennis expert, I am a normal working guy with a normal job and
b) maintaining this website is a hobby and not my JOB!

So please - keep this in mind and please appreciate a LITTLE bit what my efforts here with this site. I have no bad intentions, I am NO fanatic, I am just a big Anna-Fan who wants to have a wonderful website! That's all!

next weeks without Anna? / Memphis-surface / pregnant-rumours
WHEN WILL ANNA COME BACK?? and HOW SERIOUS IS HER INJURY?
These are the questions I am thinking about the most right now. Just take a quick look at the upcoming WTA tournaments (sources: official websites):

Memphis-surface: Well, I read a discussion at the official messageboard about what surface the tournament in Memphis will take place - read here to see that there are both, clay and cushioned plexiplave! As the official WTA Tournament states, the WTA Event will be played on Red Clay!

pregnant-rumours: This is not new and I absolutely DON'T believe that - but there is an report from TV Chile and "earthcrystal" (member of wtaworld.com) was so nice to translate it into an understandable english!

PERSONAL COMMENT: As stated in the first sentence above - BULLSHIT in my opinion! Anna is injured, she's a serious athlete and that's it!

January 28, 2003
Memphis-comeback / Ranking news
Right now there is an promo pic out showing Anna in an old all-black outfit - according to the official Memphis-website Anna has committed to play their (already back in late 2002)! THE question: Will she comeback in Memphis and not earlier?!?!?! Does anybody know how serious her current injury (back sprain) is???
I am still hoping (at least a little bit) that she plays in Antwerp the week prior to Memphis - but I fear that this won't happen :-((((

Ranking news: The new Ranking is out (as of January 27, 2003) and in Singles Anna is ranked 36th right now (+6) with 892 points! In Doubles Anna lost 7 spots (won last year's Aussie Open Doubles crown) to 19th (1168 points)! In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna is currently just 73th in Singles (49 points (2 defeats, 1 win in Singles so far :-(( ) and 29th in Doubles (151 points)!
Unfortunately she's injured right now and will lose her points she gained last year from reaching the semis in Tokyo...

Miami-news / ESPN "A date with Anna" (2/4)
Ok, this already has been posted 19 days ago on the official Nasdaq 100 Open-website and back then no one would have thought for sure that she would get injured again :-(((! Anyway, this has been posted there:
"...Anna Kournikova has committed to play the 2003 NASDAQ-100 Open..." more

ESPN "A date with Anna" (2/4): You couldn't see the 20-minute-special shown on ESPN in late December 2002??? Thanx to "Robin_Love" (member of the official messageboard) I got to see it and he agreed that I can upload it step by step on my website - DOWNLOAD ESPN's "A date with Anna"!!!

This is Part 2 (Files 6-10 of 20) and will stay online for approximately 7 days so hurry up if you want to see this TV Special!

Thanx for the Feedback: Mark Scheltens, "Robin_Love", Christian Mueller, Fabian Freudenhammer, Jerome Puillandre, Gonzalo "Chinoko" Moraga, Mrs Sander Eshuis, Kevin

January 25, 2003
NO TOKYO!!! - "sacroiliac" / Mexico-News / schedule?
Sad but true - Anna has withdrawn from the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo next week! This is what is stated at the official website: "Jennifer Capriati and Anna Kournikova will withdraw for the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament."
yahoo.com: "...has pulled out of the Pan Pacific with a back sprain."
wtatour.com: "Anna Kournikova has withdrawn due to a back sprain (sacroiliac), suffered at the Australian Open"
Remember Anna's comment regarding her "heat patch" (rumoured to be a tattoo :-(( )???: "I have a chronic back pain, I'm sorry."
Did anybody notice when she suffered this injury during the Australian Open?!?!?!

SAD: Anna will face a massive drop in Rankings (semis last year) and of course a setback in confidence as well. GOD, she was sidelined by injury in the end of 2002 and MANY times before - that's not fair, that's absolutely not fair :-((((((((((((((((((((((((

Mexico-news: Well, the Acapulco-tournament isn't sponsored anymore by Pegaso, one of Anna's sponsors and therefore THE reason for her to play their last year (she was scheduled to play in 2001 as well but the horrible injury :-((( )!
So, it is very unlikely that Anna will play in Acapulco this week. Hopefully she'll be playing in Scottsdale that week - 1 tournament on clay (Acapulco) during the hardcourt-season did never fit!!!

schedule?: With Anna being sidelined due to injury ONCE again (this is sooooooooo sad :-((((((( ) who knows what her tournament plans are?!?!?!? Maybe she is seriously injured, maybe not! Maybe she's thinking about playing in Paris, or Antwerp or none of them! WHO KNOWS????

January 24, 2003
NO TOKYO!!! / No Mexico? / schedule / Enrique & Anna - SPLIT!?!?!
Sad but true - Anna has withdrawn from the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo next week! This is what is stated at the official website: "Jennifer Capriati and Anna Kournikova will withdraw for the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament."
And just more definitely yahoo.com: "...has pulled out of the Pan Pacific with a back sprain."
Remember Anna's comment regarding her "heat patch" (rumoured to be a tattoo :-(( )???: "I have a chronic back pain, I'm sorry."
So it seems that this injury occured in practice :-(((((

Now this seems to be true and therefore Anna will face a massive drop in Rankings (she reached semis last year in Tokyo) and of course a setback in confidence as well. GOD, she was sidelined by injury in the end of 2002 and MANY times before - that's not fair, that's absolutely not fair :-((((((((((((((((((((((((

No Mexico?: Anna doesn't play in Acapulco this year??? Well, this is what "Oct_1" posted at the official messageboard (THE TENNIS > "Anna not playing Mexico this year?"-Thread)! The Tournament Director obviously said that she won't be playing there this year!
This would be a BIG surprise because Pegaso (one of Anna's sponsors) is the main sponsor of this event!!!
But in case Anna doesn't play Acapulco this year I hope she plays Scottsdale (like back in 2000 (reached semifinal), Wildcard needed) that week!

schedule: Well, this year there seems to be a BIG questionmark about Anna's Tournament schedule! Is she going to play Paris Indoors (Open Gaz de France) the week after Tokyo? Antwerp the following week? Acapulco?
Only confirmed so far: Tokyo next week (well, if this Withdrawal-news is wrong) and Memphis in mid february! But beside those tournaments a BIG questionmark about her tournament plans for February 2003!

Enrique & Anna - SPLIT!?!?!: First of all - a SUN-report...also you can read at VIVA (german TV channel) videotext page 113:
According to the SUN-report Anna & Enrique have split up just before christmas! A "source close to Enrique" (very reliable :-(( ) reportedly said that both always had a volatile (german: "flüchtig") relationship and the EMA-show on November 14, 2002 was key (reportedly Emma Jones had a great time with "Latin Lover" Enrique in his hotel suite...)! Anna found that out and she "gave him a hard time"! But: Obviously the London-restaurant-appearance (butt-showing from pal) on December 1, 2002 was one of the attempts to get their relationship back on track but in the end it didn't work!
Get in Discussion about that (official messageboard > FANS > "Anna Single again!!!?"-Thread) | italian report

PERSONAL COMMENT: Well, MIGHT be true somehow but some arguments against:
- WHY did Anna wear the "CHEEKS 12-21-02"-dogtag (first day of the ESCAPE-videoshoot) at Sydney and during the Australian Open???
- IF this would be true wouldn't we have found out anything earlier in nowadays information age?!?!
(christmas is 4 weeks ago!!!)

Aussie Open over / Mixed-Pics / ESPN "A date with Anna"
Well, as you already know the Australian Open 2003 are over for Anna - she lost her Doubles 3rd Round match on sunday!
Is she still in Melbourne, hanging around at the Aussie Open??? Do you know anything???

Mixed-Pics: For a few lovely pictures of Anna playing Mixed with Alex Bogomolov Jr. go to her official website, 2nd page of the Australian Open 2003 Photo Section!

ESPN "A date with Anna": You couldn't see the 20-minute-special shown on ESPN in late December 2002??? Thanx to "Robin_Love" (member of the official messageboard) I got to see it and he agreed that I can upload it step by step on my website - DOWNLOAD ESPN's "A date with Anna"!!!

This is Part 1 (Files 1-5 of 20) and will stay online for at least 7 days so hurry up if you want to see this TV Special!

a little FEEDBACK would be highly appreciated - I think I somehow deserve this...

Thanx for the Feedback: Mark Scheltens, Robin_Love, Christian Mueller, Fabian Freudenhammer,

OUT in Doubles / next
Well, the Australian Open 2003 are over for Anna - she and Chanda lost vs Martinez/Petrova 7:6,3:6,3:6 in Doubles 3rd Round today :-((( Both committed less unforced errors (3:10) but hit 0 aces for example (opponents: 5) and less winners (4:13)! In the end Anna/Chanda won 101 points, Martinez/Petrova 109! Statistic | Vidcaps

Very sad that Anna exited the Australian Open 2003 in Doubles - she couldn't defend her Doubles crown from last year...

next: Well, I think that Anna will stay in Melbourne for a few more days before she'll travel to Japan to compete in Tokyo's Pan Pacific Open, starting on monday, January 27, 2003!

January 18, 2003 (II)
Bollettieri:"catastrophy" / SITE SEARCH ENGINE
Nick Bollettieri, Anna's first coach in the US, is SHOCKED by Anna's "performance" against Henin. He talked with sport1.de - read the interview (german), quotes translated:
"I hardly find words - I am more than shocked: Her performance was really an absolute disaster!"
"In my opinion, she finally should decide what she really wants."

"I'd like to have Anna at my camp for a couple of weeks. I am one of the few persons on earth who can change her."

Well, deeply frustrating because HE knows the "old" Anna - maybe it really would help if Anna would go back to him...! Who knows what Anna will decide after the next Singles results!

SITE SEARCH ENGINE: The PHP-based Site Search Engine is working right now - hope you'll like it - either click jpg on top of this mainpage or navigate through the flash navigation menu on top of the website!! Questions?

MIXED OVER :-( : According to Channel 7 (TV channel which covers Aussie Open Down Under) Alex Bogomolov Jr. has withdrawn with a back strain - no more Mixed for Anna :-(((
BUT: During the match obviously no signs of an injury occured...
Thanx for the Infos, Oct_1

This is VERY VERY sad because it seems that both were doing really well in Mixed and it was all fun in today's 1st Round-match (according to Oct_1 someone even sang "Hero" and Anna smiled...)!

Margaret Court Arena - start: 11:00am local

Hard to predict when this match could begin - I assume that Anna's Mixed match starts at approx. 4:00-6:00pm local (6:00-8:00am CET)! Very hard since there's a Women's Singles, Men's Singles and Women's Doubles match prior to Anna's Mixed-match with Alex Bogomolov jr.

Anna to star in movie?!?: Acording to a Sky News report, Enrique Iglesias has signed a deal with a top Hollywood studio and they plan to remake the classic teen movie 'The Golden Disc', which makes a star out of a music-mad teenager. Enrique reportedly has told studio bosses that he wants Anna Kournikova to play his girlfriend in the movie. It is stated that he revealed, "Together, we'llbe movie dynamite." Shooting for the film is supposed to start in April.

DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?!?!? IF Anna choses to act in a movie starting in April I definitely will lose much interest in her because this would definitely mean that she has to take a break from the tour, at least a BREAK! Shooting a film requires months, unlike the Escape-videoshoot which only took about 1 day for Anna!
BUT: I highly doubt that this turns out to be true!

January 17, 2003
Doubles 2nd Rd WIN / MIXES & head-to-head
Anna&Rubin MOVE ON :-) What a brilliant victory in just 39 minutes of match play - 6:1,6:0-victory vs Asagoe/Miyagi :-) According to the Statistic Anna/Rubin weren't so dominant (no ace, more unforced errors, no winners) but in the end Anna/Rubin made 55 points, their opponents just 30!
Next up in Round 3, Women's Doubles: Either Martinez/Petrova (seeded 8th) or Vanc/van Exel!

Unfortunately I got up too late to follow the match live (at 5:30am CET) because as I found out it was already over!!!!! So therefore unfortunately I can't provide you with Netcam-Images :-( But for sure I will be online in time for the 3rd Round in Doubles!

MIXED & head-to-head: Anna plays Mixed at the Australian Open together with Alex Bogomolov jr. (american junior player, both were spotted during US Open 2002 and Anna watched him on January 14th in Melbourne this year | look)! Full Mixed Draw!
Both face Lucas Arnold (ARG) & Patricia Tarabini (ARG) in the first round, most likely on saturday!

Doubles-victory / Friday 2nd Rd / Anna's Dogtag! / BILD / Binge-party
What a turnaround: Anna/Rubin lost the first set 0:6 but in the end both were victorious in Doubles 1st Round - 0:6,6:0,6:2-win vs Stevenson/Webb! Anna & Chanda didn't hit one ace throughout the match (opponents 4) but managed to keep their unforeced errors low (just 3 compared to 11)! Statistic

Friday 2nd Rd: Tomorrow Anna&Chanda face Asagoe/Miyagi in Doubles 2nd Round! Full friday schedule! The match is scheduled 3rd on Show court 2:

Show court 2 - start: 11:00am local

Panova vs Davenport
Coria vs Nieminen
Asagoe/Miyagi vs Kournikova/Rubin

I assume the match starts at approx. 2:30-4:00pm local (4:30-6:00am CET)! Eurosport won't show this match for sure as they did today with the 1st Round match :-(

Anna's Dogtag!: Interesting and revealing - on Anna's Dogtag you can read "CHEEKS 12.21.01"!!!! Guess what? Anna shooted the ESCAPE-video with Enrique Iglesias on exactly that day, December 21, 2001!!!!!

Anna completely fell apart :-( , comments / UPLOAD STATUS / Binge down under? / Fox News-story about Tattoo
Well, what's left to say??? Nothing, except that I really don't know if Anna will become a REAL GOOD player again one day :-( She lost 0:6,1:6 vs Justine Henin-Hardenne! Okay: Justine is 5th seeded but Anna really played more than poor: Double Faults (6), lots of unforced errors (29) and you could really see that Justine was playing much much better! The first set was won by Henin-Hardenne in just 18 minutes, Anna was just able to show flashes of what she's capable of but NOTHING more. She was NERVOUS and in fear of committing errors :-((((
What did Anna say??? her chances vs Henin today: "I really had no weapons against her today". To somebody noticing her good serves during practise: "Oh, good, somebody noticed that (laughing)". What does she have to do right now?: "I'm just going to have to go and practise and work harder and...get ready for the next tournament in Tokyo." 2003-season: "I'm looking forward to a long and healthy one. PLEASE ANNA, there I could see you :-) Full Interview including Stream Video | Full statistics | ausopen.org-report

I watched the match with english commentary on Eurosport... (ARD will show the match after Weingartner-Foretz at approx. 3:00am CET, 1:00pm local) - the commentators were talking about that Anna should cut off ALL her offcourt-activities (sponsors, endorsements) etc. and should FULLY concentrate on Tennis 24/7. Furthermore they adviced her to step back to lower Tier-level tournaments in order to win this elusive first Singles title - just to get this "never won a tournament"-thing out of the press conferences! Most of the time it was depressing to listen to them...because in my opinion they were right :-(((((

Binge down under?: Remember US-band Binge with their song "Anna Kournikova"??? For sure! Well, according to this article (quite at the bottom) the band will perform this track this week in Melbourne...! Well, perhaps this is true but I highly doubt that Anna will be around!

Fox News-story about Tattoo: Well, Anna denied that she has a tattoo on her lower back ("I don't think I have anything on my body. I just have a heat patch.") but Fox News showed a report about this topic today - Download clip (many thanx to Robin_Love / don't know how long this link will remain active)

Anna through to 2nd Round :-) / NO TATTOO / UPLOAD STATUS
Anna won her 1st Singles match at a Grand Slam since the Aussie Open 2001 today - 6:1,6:2! Anna was very happy that she did win: "I played nearly a perfect match today"! Her comment regarding offcourt-stuff: "I swam with dolphins once, three years ago, and went to the zoo once. I'm here to play" :-)))! Did she think about the losing streak at Grand Slams?: "I was not really thinking about (the losing streak)"! 2002 season with all the injury setbacks: "I was playing a horrible year last year." full Interview | ohio.com-article | official website-article | VidCaps

ARD was just showing the final 6 minutes of the game, Eurosport probably will show a summary of the match later today (after Night Session is over at approx. 1:00pm CET)! Purchase video

NO TATTOO: Speculation is over - Anna said this in the pressconference after beating Nagyova about the "tattoo" on her lower back: "I don't think I have anything on my body, no. It is a heat patch... I have had chronic back pain,...I have worn for some years. My skirt is a little lower this year which is why you can now see it."

Anna defeats Nagyova :-)))) / Next opponent / Ranking news / UPLOAD STATUS / ESPN with "funny" tattoo-special
Anna won her 1st Singles match at a Grand Slam since the Aussie Open 2001 today - 6:1,6:2 in an easy-looking match where Nagyova never seemed to have a real chance against Anna :-))) I am so happy! Full statistics ! I only saw a few minutes but Anna seemed pretty confident, went for her shots, made few unforced errors and also approached the net! I was so happy to see her playing really well :-) VidCaps

ARD was just showing the final 6 minutes of the game, Eurosport probably will show a summary of the match later today (after Night Session is over at approx. 1:00pm CET)! Purchase video

Next opponent: Well, guess who's next??? Yes, Justin Henin-Hardenne who beat Casanova today! Anna lost to Henin-Hardenne in last year's Australian Open 1st Round 2:6,5:7! The match will take place on wednesday, January 15, 2003!

Ranking news: Unfortunately Anna's Rankings go down again - not a real surprise because she lost in Sydney's 1st Round vs Husarova. By January 13 she'll just be ranked 42th in Singles (842 points) and th in Doubles (points)! In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna doesn't even appear in the Singles Top100 and in the Team-Rankings Anna is ranked 34th with 49 points! Singles | Doubles | Race-Singles | Race-Doubles
Hopefully Anna will win her 1st Round-match vs Nagyova tomorrow!

I assume that Anna's match starts at approx. 12:00-1:00pm local (2:00-3:00am CET). The men's match is best-of-5 so it's pretty hard to predict when it's gonna be finished!
TV COVERAGE: Thanx god, Eurosport and ARD are broadcasting LIVE from 1:00am (ARD 1:15am) CET monday morning so I really hope they'll show Anna's match instead of Venus or Barbara Rittner for example!

Australian Open: 1st Rd vs Nagyova / Bali 2003?
The Women's Singles draw for the 1st Grand Slam of the season has been made - full Women's Singles draw for the Australian Open! As you can see, Anna will face Henrieta Nagyova in the opening round...both have never played before...!
If Anna gets past this first hurdle she'll most likely meet Justin Henin-Hardenne in the 2nd Round! Do you remember??? Last year's Australian Open 1st Round (January 15, 2002): Anna lost 2-6,5-7 and she never won a match vs Justin Henin-Hardenne so far :-((((
Head-to-Head: 0-3 (Philadelphia 1999, US Open 2000, Australian Open 2001)

Bali 2003?: A report has been published by foxsports that organisers of the Wismilak International-tournament in Bali (Indonesia) intend to boost tournament-attendance by getting Anna to play there...!
Well, perhaps Anna decides to play there. We'll see!

Anna&Rubin LOST :-( / Aussie Open-preview
Unfortunately Anna is definitely OUT already at the Adidas International in Sydney! She and Chanda Rubin LOST 3:6,2:6 vs Coetzer/Steck in Doubles 2nd Round :-(((( That's all information I received in my vacation...
Thanx very much Christian Mueller for keeping me up-to-date

Aussie Open-preview: Well, Anna had the most frustrating start into the 2003 season we could imagine - OUT in Singles 1st Round (SF in 2000) & OUT in Doubles 2nd Round (VICTORY in 2001 with Schett)... immensely sad!
The draw for the 1st Grand Slam of the Year isn't published yet but Anna won't be seeded as she will lose points and rankings. WHY??
- 2002 Auckland (1st week): SF => 2003 1st week: hasn't played
- 2002 Sydney (2nd week): 2nd Rd => 2003 Sydney: 1st Rd

I made up my mind, I remembered Solomon's comment from last year's summer (that she'll be MUCH better by the time they go to Australia next year...) and the ONLY excuse for her mediocre perfomance is her foot injury from October which forced her to withdraw from the season-ending tournaments!
Right now my biggest fear is obvious: Anna might lose in the 1st Round of the Australian Open once again :-(
If so, she wouldn't have won a Singles match at a Grand Slam since........the Australian Open 2001!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's hope this won't happen!!!

Sydney news / BILD today
As far as I know (I am still on vacation, so sorry for any inconveniences this may cause) Anna will play Doubles 2nd Round vs COETZER/STECK tomorrow afternoon local (the full thursday schedule you may find here or in the official messageboard > TENNIS)!
I assume that this match will take place during early morning hours for me as a guy who's living in germany (Sydney-time -10 hours)!

BILD today: As expected german BILD (look into the Sport-section, perhaps they have an online article) newspaper featured Anna's 1st Round Singles loss in today's paper with the headline (german) "Ach, Anna! Schon wieder eine Pleite und Ärger" - the article basically deals about the latest 1st Round-exit and also states that lawyers are on the way to Australia to get a testimony of Anna - the paparazzo-incident during the dinner with Enrique! BILD says that Hall was Anna's bodyguard and not Enrique's...!
The bottom line of the article: "Not the best preparation for the upcoming Australian Open" - YES, unfortunately ONLY sad news all over :-(((((((

Anna lost in Singles / Doubles 1st Round-victory / full Sydney-coverage
This is more than just frustrating: Anna lost vs Janette Husarova 4:6,6:2,1:6 - in the 1st Round :-((( We know these 1st Round-defeats from last year, don't we??? As I got this message of her defeat in my vacation I hardly could believe it...! Anna, what is going on??? This match already took place early on tuesday, 1:00am CET and 11:00am local!
Sorry, but since I am STILL on vacation I am not able to provide you with further details...but in a few days

Doubles 1st Round-victory: Anna and Chanda moved on to the 2nd Round in Doubles already yesterday on January 6 by defeating Lindsay Davenport/Lisa Raymond 6:4,4:6,6:3!

full Sydney coverage: As I said I am on vacation until friday (January 10) and so I am just able to provide you with few news, scores from the matches but I can't provide the FULL coverage (reports, INTEVIEWS, pictures etc) you are used to find here :-(((( sorry for that! So my recommendations: official tournament website | official messageboard

Anna vs Husarova / Doubles TODAY
Anna faces Janette Husarova in the 1st Round of the Adidas International. The match will take place on tuesday (Jan 7). Full monday-schedule | Full Singles Draw | Full Doubles Draw
Anna did play vs Husarova once...and WON :-)
It was back on February 28, 2002 in Mexico on clay where Anna did beat Husarova 6-3,6-4 in the quarterfinal :-)
Okay, this time both face each other on hardcourt but I really would be disappointed if Anna doesn't win. GO ANNA :-)
Unfortunately Eurosport starts its coverage on wednesday (9:30am CET, Night session start in Sydney) and not already on tuesday so I won't be able to see Anna's 1st match in 2003 :-(((((

Doubles TODAY: Anna/Chanda  vs Davenport/Raymond takes place on Centre Court, Night Session, start: 7:30pm local (9:30am CET)!

1st Rd: Anna vs Janette Husarova
2nd Rd: Anna vs Henin-Hardenne (Henin recently married)

Honestly, I don't want to take a deeper look into the draw but hopefully Anna wins against Husarova and delivers a great match vs Henin-Hardenne in Round 2! Anna's first round match will take place either on monday or tuesday!

Take a look at the full Doubles Draw (pdf-file, scroll down)! Anna playing together with Chanda Rubin once again but both got a very tough draw:

Anna has never played against the team Davenport/Raymond before...

Anna in Sydney - tattoo discussion... / Sydney's Singles- & Doubles-draw / TATTOO SIGHTED???
As stated by dailytelegraph.news.com.au Anna has a tattoo on her back which already was covered during the 2nd half of the 2002 season (remember the pictures from Montreal, Wimbledon, San Diego???)! But back to facts:
She arrived at the Airport on friday (reportedly from Los Angeles...remember the stories about Enrique buying a villa for Anna there...), made some phone calls with her mobile, posed for a few pictures with fans. Then she drove to her hotel and practised at Homebush (name of the tennis site) for 2 hours before driving back to her hotel!

On saturday, January 4, she was at the opening of the Queen Victoria Adidas building for about 30 minutes. Anna showed her new oncourt outfit (see), didn't want to be drawn into the current homosexuality-debate on the women's tour and once again:

"A large piece of plaster hid a new tattoo on her exposed lower back."

- TRUE?!?!?! Anna said this at the Adidas store: "I'm excited to be back in the city and looking forward to playing...hopefully it's not too hot." article
Thanx sadiesexy for the article-info

Sydney's Singles- & Doubles-draw: Take a look at the full Singles Draw!
1st Rd: Anna vs Qualifier
2nd Rd: Anna vs Henin-Hardenne (Henin recently married)

Honestly, I don't want to take a deeper look into the draw but hopefully Anna wins against the Qualifier and delivers a great match vs Henin-Hardenne in Round 2! Anna's first round match will take place either on monday or tuesday!

Take a look at the full Doubles Draw (pdf-file, scroll down)! Anna playing together with Chanda Rubin once again but both got a very tough draw:
1st Rd vs Davenport/Raymond

Anna has never played against in Davenport/Raymond in Doubles before...

TATTOO SIGHTED???: Well, this isn't a new rumour but it occured once again - in all articles from Anna's Sydney-arrival and from her appearance at the opening of the Adidas-store on January 4! Reportedly the tattoo wasn't covered at her arrival at the airport but in the Adidas store it was covered with a rectangular bandage of 10CM LENGTH!!!!!

PERSONAL COMMENT: The first time I read that Anna should have a tattoo (on her left hip) was back at Roland Garros 1998!!!! Just remember last year where we saw Anna in MANY tournaments with a plaster on her lower back. It was written in many reports that this should cover a tattoo but hey: Why should Anna hide an obviously big tattoo for SOOOO long?!?!?! BY NOW ANNA NEITHER DENIED NOR CONFIRMED ANYTHING!!!

Take a look at 2 pictures from 2002 with a plaster:

Anna practising in Sydney in new outfit
As reported in a previous article Anna landed in Sydney TODAY (well, yesterday because it's already saturday in Sydney)! She had fashion commitments afterwards and so she couldn't attend the tournament draw! On saturday January 4 Anna will present her new outfit (not the "catsuit" as you can see below) at the opening of Adidas latest store in Sydney! read article

Anna to arrive in Sydney - schedule
TODAY Anna is due to arrive in Sydney - in fact it's already saturday in Sydney (CET +10 hours) and so I assume that Anna is already in Sydney! Hopefully the first pictures will come up soon!!!! official tournament website
The main draw for the Adidas International will be out either on saturday (in a few hours) or on sunday - I couldn't find accurate news on the official website :-(

Anna to arrive in Sydney tomorrow / Anna to appear at court - more news / Anna lost court decision about Penthouse / new dates for ESPN's "A date with Anna"-show
It's already friday, January 3, in Sydney (CET +10 hours)! According to theage.com.au Anna is due to arrive in Sydney that day! official tournament website
Hopefully we'll see many many pictures from her down under :-) Have a great year 2003

Anna to appear at court - more news: It really seems to be true - Anna will be questioned under oath on January 14 because of a paparazzo/bodyguard-incident last summer in Miami when she was dining with Enrique??? articles

PERSONAL COMMENT: January 14 - well, now several reports came out and I don't know exactly anymore what to think about that! Hopefully Anna will say something when asked in press conferences in Sydney or Melbourne!

Anna lost court decision about Penthouse: The US court system is different from ours in germany - Penthouse has been given permission to redistribute their June 2001-copies which shows topless pictures of a woman but NOT Anna. Penthouse claimed that the woman on the pictures is Anna Kournikova... article

new dates for ESPN's "A date with Anna"-show: Well, thanx to Robin_Love (member of official messageboard) hopefully I'll soon be able to see this special about Anna :-) 2 interesting quotes; first one by photographer Bill Ling: "Each time I work with her, she is more independent, stronger, more keen to do it. She is the one in control. You can't pull the wool over her eyes, and she knows when things are good and things are bad. She wants to do the photo shoot, just like the vma's, it's just once or twice a year." And Anna's quote: "For me, it's more difficult to do stuff off of the court, because I am obviously, a tennis player. So I try to do my best."

Happy new year / no Doubles in Sydney? / Zaragoza-videos / Anna to appear at court / sorry / new dates for ESPN's "A date with Anna"-show
First of all - happy new year Anna! I hope you have a great, INJURY-FREE and HEALTHY 2003 which is the most important thing! I hope to see you live at least one time (Berlin, Filderstadt and Leipzig most likely tournaments) in person once again :-)

To all you Anna-Fans: It's been an outstanding year for me and my work on this website! Just keep coming back, state your opinion, tell me what you want to know, buy videos or simply check out the updates I do and will keep on doing in 2003 :-) THANX TO ALL OF YOU!

no Doubles in Sydney?: I've read at the wtaworld.com-messageboard that Anna won't play Doubles at Sydney next week, at her 1st tournament this year!

Zaragoza-videos: Download 5 small videos from Anna playing her first exhibition 2002 in Zaragoza (Spain) - lovely Anna :-) Download-site

Anna to appear at court: Well, weird story but it was published in the yellow press before - it seems that this was right: a man and a woman reportedly approached the table in a miami-restaurant where Enrique and Anna were dining - to get a better shot! Well, then the bodyguard came...! Read more

PERSONAL COMMENT: January 14 is mentioned as the date for Anna to appear at the court...this is the 2nd day of this year's Australian Open! For sure, if all of this turns out to be true then Anna most likely doesn't have to show up there personally!

sorry: I have to apologise because I had to delete the Australian Open 2002-videofiles to have enough webspace for the 2002 Special! Plus: The AUDIO CENTER is offline as well due to limited webspace!
Don't worry - I will upload new Australian Open 2002-videos in a few days and the Audio Center will be available again as well very soon, I promise!

new dates for ESPN's "A date with Anna"-show: Right now ESPN runs a show which shows scenes from the Calendar 2003 photoshooting! They already run Advertisements throughout the day!

December 30, 2002: ESPN, 8pm-8:30pm
                              ESPN 2, 10:30pm-11:00pm
December 31, 2002: ESPN 2, 4:30am-5:00am
                              ESPN 2, 1:00pm-1:30pm
January 1, 2003: ESPN, 2:30 pm-3:00pm

All times are CENTRAL TIME! Hopefully somebody can make a videofile (mpeg, avi or whatever) from this ESPN-show so that Anna-Fans OUTSIDE the USA can see it as well!
