BUT: Anna was in the stands during the match of
Jennifer Capriati on August 26! Anna was interviewed
afterwards by USA networks (what a surprise, ha...)!

148th in Singles - no surprise because she reached
the 3rd Round of the Rogers AT&T Cup last year! In
Doubles Anna's Ranking slightly improved - 72th with
513 points! In the "Porsche Race to the
Championships"-Rankings Anna is far away from a
Top100 Singles-Ranking and in Doubles Anna & Chanda
remain ranked 51th with unchanged 151 points.

Anna didn't say anything about her current injury status after she played World Team Tennis (July 16-18, 2003) and we can only speculate what she plans for the future! Hopefully all the Retirement-reports and -rumors turn out to be false - otherwise I still cannot say how I would feel.
Bogomolov inspired: Alex Bogomolov Jr. (he and Anna
played Mixed at this year's Australian Open) said
that he and Anna are best friends, she inspires him
and he also gave a short update of Anna's current
injury status: "She's still
rehabbing and trying to move a little bit right now"!

According to Tourism Authority of Thailand Anna will be a presenter to publicize Thailand to encourage tourists to travel in Thailand (reportedly $US 250.000 should have been paid to Anna) AND - it is reported that Anna will be playing the Volvo Women's Open 2003 in Pattaya, Thailand, from November 3-9, 2003 (Tier V, Hardcourt Outdoors)! In Doubles Anna lost 1 more position - 73th ranked with unchanged points! In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna's name doesn't show up in the Singles Top 100 and in Doubles she and Chanda Rubin are now ranked 51th with unchanged position (-1 position)!

As of August 4, Anna's freefall only got worse :-(((( Last year she reached the semifinal of San Diego (Acura Classic), now she loses all these points. Currently she's only ranked 135th!!!! As long as I know Anna she never has been ranked that low :-((((! In Doubles Anna lost another 2 spots - 72th with unchanged points! In the "Porsche Race to the Championships"-Rankings Anna is, what a surprise, still not ranked among the Singles Top 100 and in Doubles she lost 1 spot - ranked 50th with Chanda Rubin and unchanged points (151)!

Past-flash: Today I watched the 1998
Exhibition in Geneva - Anna vs Steffi Graf! It was
great to watch but I also got sad because this is
SOOOOO long ago plus back then, Anna was still "the
rising young star" (despite her double
faults-records at this time)! And now??? Injuries,
offcourt-rumors about secret marriages and a young
Russian called Maria Sharapova who should become the
"new Anna" (according to the press worldwide)! Anna,
the TENNIS PLAYER... most people think that she
should retire because she won't come back to the top!

On tuesday Anna's manager Phil de Picciotto told french magazine "L'Equipe" that Anna won't be able to play as she was used to in recent years - most likely! Quote: "Considering the state of her back, Anna is unable to compete in tournaments regularly"! This is very very frustrating of course! What does that mean??? Anna just playing 1 tournament per month?? Or 1 tournament in 2 months??? I don't know and really would like to hear something from Anna by herself! But I am sure: Anna WILL try E V E R Y T H I N G to come back! She loves Tennis!
