Anna already arrived in Hongkong yesterday,take a look at the press conference pic!Some quotes:"My whole game has improved a lot," she said. "Hopefully my win will come soon."She also reflection her opinion towards the media hype around her:"I can't really change it and its good for the game - lets them know we're here," she said. She also confirmed that she will play the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo,straight after the Australian Open.The ticket sale in Charleston,new home of the Family Circle Cup,rised after Anna confirmed to play this tournament a few weeks ago.

Anna plays Barabanschikova
The draw for the Watson`s Water Challenge Exhibition in Hongkong has been released and Anna is going to have her first match in 2001 on Januar,3rd against Olga Barabanschikova.
She will also play doubles there as she did in 1999!Her partner is...Lisa Raymond.Martina Hingis won`t play at this exhibition and it is still not sure if both will play doubles in 2001 or not.We will see!
The opponents of Anna and Lisa are Anke Huber and Yi Jing-Qian!This match will take place on Thursday.

New Look
Well,Anna enjoys her few weeks off the courts for sure and we present you the new look of this Site!
Okay,it is a sad time right now because Anna doesn`t play and there are still the christmas days and New Years Eve to come but in less than 2 weeks we will probably see Anna again in Hongkong,where she will be playing in an Invitational.
Afterwards she will be play in Sydney as you can see in the right of this site!How do you think about this new kind of presenting a tournament?We will try to renew this for every tournament Anna plays in 2001!Let us know what you think about it.

Off Season
Anna is now having some weeks off and it is not sure what she is doing right now.For sure she is getting ready for the 2001 season which means training like running and usual practise on the court,improving the skills.
It is a little bit a sad time because there are no news about her but better no news than news like they appeared at the end of 1999.At this time reports were published about her having a new boyfriend...Pavel Bure!
Thank God that this is over...
As soon as possible we will publish Annas 2001 schedule so stay tuned!

Anna wins twice in Ecuador
Anna defeated Fabiola Zuluaga in Guayaquil easily 6-1,6-4 and it just took 61minutes.After this victory she was also successful in Mixed Doubles with Nicolas Lapentti!Together they beat Zuluage/Gomes,both South American tennis legends,8-6.
It seems as if this was Annas last Exhibition tournament in the year 2000 and she is going to start off the 2001 season with her participation in Hongkong, an Invitational tournament!There, Anna has already played in 1999 and,remember:It was the year of her first Grand Slam Title...

Anna beats Martina in Chile-Exhibition
Yeah!She did it!Anna played an outstanding match in South America and managed to beat Martina Hingis,the World Number 1,for the first time since May,15th 1998 (German Open, GER)!!!6-4,6-4 the score but there went something wrong in the match after a linecall.The point was given for Anna but Hingis refused and it was reported that she said to Anna:
"You think you are a queen but you know that I'm a real queen"!!!This did hurt Anna so much that she started to cry and after the match a glass should have been smashed by Anna!Is this the end for the best Doubles Team ever??Hopefully not!Australian Open 2001 without Anna and Martina in the Doubles Competition => We don't even want to think about it.
If the story turns out to be true,Martina has to say sorry to Anna!Immediately.

Anna beaten by Hingis in Exhibition
On Saturday Anna played an Exhibition in Sao Paulo (Brazil) vs. her friend and Doubles Partner Martina Hingis and she lost in a close match in 3 sets 7-5,1-6,4-6!But she has the chance to beat Hingis today in another Exhibition at her South American Tour in Santiago (Chile)!Lets hope the best for Anna!
Next up there ist a final Exhibition in Guayaquil (Ecuador) where Anna will team up witn Nicolas Lapentti and this event will take place on December,2nd 2000!
